Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez comes from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Her brothers are elder, and two younger ones. She was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had relocated to Bahrain in the 80s due to the civil war that occurred in Sri Lanka. After graduating from the schooling in Bahrain she received the Scholarship at University of Sydney to pursue an Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. The love of different cultures and languages inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school, where she improved on French and Arabic while learning Spanish. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. She entered television after winning her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her show, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone's father is a professional badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. Padukone played in the national championships when she was a teenager but gave up her sport career to pursue a career as a model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean in her origins. Padukone is located in Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone is her father and a former badminton star with international recognition. Her mother works as a travel agent.
